Safety Meeting To Ensure Our Technicians and Customers Are Safe

Septic Preservation Services had its monthly safety meeting today. The safety of our employees and customers is of the utmost importance to us so we ensure that we stay ahead of safety training, safety procedures and that our equipment is safe and our employees know how to use it correctly. Even though it is raining today part of our safety commitment is ensuring that our staff are safe whatever the weather so today our meeting covered heat stress and sun exposure training to ensure that our staff know how to work safely when the sun does show itself. We also focused on trailer safety for open, closed and equipment trailers including correct loading, tie down and visual inspections. Septic Preservation Services know that for many homes in Maine that are remote and therefore not on town sewer their property wastewater purification necessarily requires a septic system. All Septic Systems are designed specifically for their own site and have variances which make them unique but most systems are based on the same principles. A conventional septic system consists of a septic tank, a distribution box and a drainfield. Your septic system treats your household wastewater by temporarily holding it in the septic tank where heavy solids and lighter scum are allowed to separate from the wastewater. The solids stored in the tank are decomposed by bacteria and later pumped out. After partially treated wastewater leaves the tank, it flows into a distribution box, which separates this flow evenly into a network of drainfield trenches. Drainage holes at the bottom of each line allow the wastewater to drain into gravel trenches for temporary storage. This effluent then slowly seeps into the subsurface soil where it is further treated and purified. You system must be maintained and used correctly to ensure that it is doing its job correctly. Title 5 Inspections For Property Owners Who Are Selling

Septic Preservation Services regularly provide Title 5 Septic Inspections to property owners who are selling and need to have their septic system inspected before a property transfer can take place. Today we have Title 5 inspections for customers in Bridgewater, Halifax, Hanover, Scituate, Marshfield and Canton MA. In Massachusetts a septic inspection is required in the following instances:

  • Within 2 years before a sale. If weather conditions prevent inspection at the time of a sale, the inspection must take place within 6 months afterward.
  • When there is a proposed change to the facility which requires a building or occupancy permit.
  • Any change in the footprint of a building, to make sure that new building construction will not take place on top of any system components or on the system’s reserve area.
  • For large systems with a design flow of 10,000 to 15,000 gallons per day or more at full build-out, on the basin schedule shown in 310 CMR 15.301(6), and every five years thereafter.
  • Every 3 years for shared systems.
  • When the property is divided, or ownership of 2 or more properties is combined.
  • When MassDEP or the local Board of Health orders an inspection
