Cesspool Services Ensure That Your Cesspool Continues To Operate Correctly

Septic Preservation Services work with many customers that don’t have conventional septic systems on their property but instead have a cesspool. As stated on the Mass Gov website:

“A cesspool is a pit which acts as both a settling chamber for solids and a leaching system for liquids. The use of cesspools may overload the capacity of the soil to remove bacteria, viruses, and phosphorus, and to nitrify ammonia and organic nitrogen compounds. A conventional septic system has a tank where solids can settle and begin to degrade, a distribution box, and a soil absorption system (SAS) that further treats the effluent by removing some of the bacteria, viruses, phosphorus, and nitrogen.”

Although cesspools are now not installed because there are more efficient and environmentally conscious alternatives Massachusetts does not always require cesspools to be replaced. They state that:

“Only those cesspools that exhibit signs of hydraulic failure, are located extremely close to private or public water supplies, or otherwise fail to protect or pose a threat to public health, safety or the environment will need to be upgraded (310 CMR 15.303). Also, cesspools must be upgraded prior to an increase in design flow (e.g., the addition of a bedroom to a home or seats to a restaurant).”

For more information see the Mass Gov Website

We provide cesspool services to customers so that they can ensure that their system continues to operate correctly. Today we have cesspool services scheduled in Bellingham, Blackstone, Franklin, Sharon, Foxboro and Mansfield MA. We do also provide cesspool replacements and have recently done so recently in Rowley and Hanson MA. Septic Preservation Services Provide Septic Repairs And Advise

Septic Preservation Services are always happy to use our extensive knowledge in the septic industry gained over 25 years working with septic systems in the region to educate property owners with septic systems. If we can help someone avoid a septic breakdown by following some easy to follow suggestions we count that as a success. “Preservation” is in our name for a reason and we take the preservation of our environment seriously. A septic problem for one home can result in large problems that can affect the local environment including:

· Hazardous sewage surfacing in yard
· Health hazards to children and pets
· Noxious orders over large areas
· Polluted streams and ponds
· Sewage back-up in buildings
· Contaminated wells
· Breeding areas for mosquitoes

One problem is often created by property owners being unaware of the location of their leach field or drain field or not understanding the importance of its part in their septic system. They then park or drive vehicles over it causing damage. Your drain field and its associated piping are not built to sustain weight and can become easily damaged by vehicles parking on them. Even if the vehicle does not collapse the system, it can compact the soil causing drain field problems. Today we are providing a leach field septic repair for a property owner in Rochester who unknowingly damaged their system by allowing parking on their leach field during a party. We have other septic repairs today in Carver, Marion, Bourne, Middleboro and Plymouth MA. If you are concerned that your septic system is not operating as it should or if you have any questions about your septic system please do contact our Norton office on 877-378-4279 or visit Septic Preservation Services

Avoid Septic Repairs By Following A Few Suggestions

Septic Preservation Services work with commercial property owners and residential property owners providing septic services including septic inspections, septic cleaning, septic repairs, septic installations and septic preventative maintenance. While we welcome all this business we also try to educate our clients so that they use their septic systems correctly and can prevent the necessity of using our septic repair services. Many septic repairs that we are called out to could have been avoided of the property owner had been using their septic system correctly. Here are a few suggestions to follow to help ensure your system will continue to work as it should:

Things you should do:

DO conserve water whenever possible as a means of reducing the volume of wastewater that will need to be treated and disposed.
DO make repairs to any faucets or toilets that are leaking.
DO make sure that you are only discharging biodegradable wastes into your system.
DO restrict or avoid use of your garbage disposal.
DO take the time to ensure that any down spouts or other surface water is diverted away from your drainfield.
DO keep the cover to your septic tank accessible by installing covers and risers for easier inspections and pumping.
DO get your septic tank pumped regularly and have it checked for any cracks or leaks.
DO have an effluent filter installed to prevent debris from entering your drainfield.
DO add a laundry filter to your washing machine.
DO put kitchen trash into a compost or throw it into the garbage – not down your drains.

Things you should NOT do

DON’T flush products such as tampons, sanitary napkins, condoms, disposable diapers or wipes into your system.
DON’T empty oils or other types of kitchen grease down your drain.
DON’T dump any items that can disrupt the treatment process or contaminate groundwater, such as: paints, oils, thinners, pesticides, poisons or disinfectants.
DON’T build anything over your drainfield or dig in it for any reason.
DON’T plant any landscaping over your drainfield – except grass.
DON’T drive a vehicle over your drainfield or compact the soil in ANY way.
DON’T run purification back flush into the septic tank.

Unfortunately for some of our customers this information comes too late and we have septic repairs scheduled for customers today who could in some instances have avoided their septic breakdown by following the above advice. Today we are at customer properties in Fairhaven, New Bedford, Marion, Westport and Mattapoisett MA for septic repairs. If you require a septic repair or if you have any questions or concerns about septic systems please do contact our Norton Office on 877-378-4279 or visit www.septicpreservation.com

Septic Services Can Take The Worry From Septic System Maintenance

Septic Preservation Services know that many people who own a vehicle will schedule a service for their car when the service indicators comes on or carry out their car maintenance themselves. As car owners we accept that maintaining our car is going to cost money but we use our vehicles daily so they need to be well maintained. The same is true for your septic system. There aren’t many properties that do not see their septic systems used daily. However a septic system is not the same as your car and many property owners turn to professionals, like Septic Preservation Services, to take care of their septic services. We have commercial and residential customers who rely upon us to take care of their septic systems so they do not need to worry about them. This is especially true for commercial customers who lose revenue when their septic system is not working. We will schedule septic services for our customers on a quarterly, biannual or annual basis depending on their septic system and the usage it gets. For example a busy restaurant that is open year round will need a service more frequently than a cafe that is only open in the summer ‘season’. Today we have septic services scheduled in Marion, Bourne, Carver, Sandwich, Mashpee, Falmouth and Barnstable MA. If you would be interested in scheduling a septic service or if you have any questions about septic systems or our septic services please do contact our Norton office on 877-378-4279 or visit https://www.septicpreservation.com
