Providing Cesspool Services To Ensure That They Continue To Operate Correctly
Septic Preservation Services, in addition to property owners with conventional septic systems also work with many customers who have a cesspool instead. As stated on the Mass Gov website:
“A cesspool is a pit which acts as both a settling chamber for solids and a leaching system for liquids. The use of cesspools may overload the capacity of the soil to remove bacteria, viruses, and phosphorus, and to nitrify ammonia and organic nitrogen compounds. A conventional septic system has a tank where solids can settle and begin to degrade, a distribution box, and a soil absorption system (SAS) that further treats the effluent by removing some of the bacteria, viruses, phosphorus, and nitrogen.”
Although cesspool are now out of date and there are more efficient and environmentally conscious alternatives Massachusetts does not require cesspools to be replaced. They state that:
“Only those cesspools that exhibit signs of hydraulic failure, are located extremely close to private or public water supplies, or otherwise fail to protect or pose a threat to public health, safety or the environment will need to be upgraded (310 CMR 15.303). Also, cesspools must be upgraded prior to an increase in design flow (e.g., the addition of a bedroom to a home or seats to a restaurant).”

Septic Preservation Services has septic service appointments today for customers in Bolton, Berlin, Northborough, Clinton, Sterling, Stow, and Maynard, MA. We take away the responsibility of maintenance of a septic system from our customers. Lets be honest, there are very few people out there who want to maintain or service their septic system, and if there is a cost effective, quality, septic company available that will do it for you, many people, including our customers, will happily relinquish all responsibility to a qualified and trustworthy alternative.
Septic Preservation Services has septic pumping scheduled in Berlin, Clinton, Hudson, Marlborough, Bolton, Boxborough, and Sterling, MA. It is important to have your septic system pumped every 3-5 years but this can vary dramatically depending on the size of your septic system and the water usage. We have one customer who has a small property with a correspondingly small septic system. However, they regularly host large gatherings of friends and family which puts a huge strain on their septic system. They have found that it is more cost effective to hire portable toilets for their events than to have their septic system pumped much more regularly due to the excessive use it gets periodically and risk failures due to the large increase in usage it gets at these times. If you wish to schedule septic pumping or if you have any questions regarding pump outs please do contact our office at 877-378-4279 or visit
