Meet Jamie Graffam from Septic Preservation Services

Septic Preservation ServicesMeet Jamie Graffam of Septic Preservation Services.  He is a service tech at SPS and has been a member of the team for 3+ years.  He has completed the U.R.I. course for septic inspections as well as several other courses to help him with his service tech responsibilities.

Jamie served 4 years in the Marine Corps after high school and then searched from big business to big business looking for the right fit in a company.  He found that fit with Septic Preservation Services.  He loves being part of the SPS team and particularly likes working outside.

Personally Jamie is engaged to his fiancee Jen, and has two daughters, Keeghan and Kilee.  He is happy to announce that Keeghan will be making him a grandfather early next year.

You never know what you’ll come across in the septic business, and Jamie shared this humorous story with us.

In the course of his duties, Jamie had opened an air box on a septic system, only to find a Momma and a baby snake “I’m not afraid of snakes, but when they catch me off guard, they do startle me a bit”. He removed Mom and took her to the nearby woods to release her, and then returned to remove the baby snake, but as he is kneeling down and catching the snake, his phone vibrates, (fellow SPS team member, Jim Boucher), and really gave him a good scare, (thinking Momma snake had returned to get her baby).  He then realized, to his relief,  it was only his phone.  He answered his phone, laughing,  and had a good story to share with Jim.

Title 5 Septic Inspections

Septic Preservation ServicesSeptic Preservation Services has Title 5 Septic Inspections scheduled today in Rowley, Boxford, Groveland, Lynnfield, and Middleton, MA.  Since 1995, Title 5 Septic Inspections have been required in Massachusetts.  You need an onsite septic inspection for the following reasons in general:

 

  • When properties are sold, divided or combined.
  • When there is a change in use or an expansion of a facility.
  • When MassDEP or the local Board of Health requires an inspection.
  • Title 5 requires inspections for large systems, shared systems, and condominiums on a periodic basis.
  • Systems located in cities and towns with MassDEP-approved inspection programs are required to comply with local inspection requirements.

 

There are exceptions and nuances to the general requirements listed here. For example, no inspection is required if the owner has signed an enforceable agreement with the Board of Health to upgrade the system, connect to a sanitary sewer, or connect to a shared system within two years. White Knight Septic Preservation Services is starting a septic system installation today in Rochester, MA.  We are installing a White Knight™ Microbial Inoculator/Generator into the septic tank for our customer to create an oxygen rich environment and cultivate an extensive colony of soil bacteria.  In nature these same oxygen-using (aerobic) bacteria in the soil consume non-living organic material.  This is the process nature uses to “recycle” wastes.

 

The result is nearly complete consumption of the organic materials entering the septic tank.  At the same time, the bacteria are carried into the leach field where they consume the organic material that has accumulated in the underlying soil.  The leach field regains and/or maintains its capacity to deliver effluent to the soil for purification.
