The vast majority of OBDs in Maine are associated with residential dwellings and small commercial operations along the coast.”

Cesspool Services Ensure That Your Cesspool Continues To Operate Correctly

Septic Preservation Services work with many customers that don’t have conventional septic systems on their property but instead have a cesspool. As stated on the Mass Gov website:

“A cesspool is a pit which acts as both a settling chamber for solids and a leaching system for liquids. The use of cesspools may overload the capacity of the soil to remove bacteria, viruses, and phosphorus, and to nitrify ammonia and organic nitrogen compounds. A conventional septic system has a tank where solids can settle and begin to degrade, a distribution box, and a soil absorption system (SAS) that further treats the effluent by removing some of the bacteria, viruses, phosphorus, and nitrogen.”

Although cesspools are now not installed because there are more efficient and environmentally conscious alternatives Massachusetts does not always require cesspools to be replaced. They state that:

“Only those cesspools that exhibit signs of hydraulic failure, are located extremely close to private or public water supplies, or otherwise fail to protect or pose a threat to public health, safety or the environment will need to be upgraded (310 CMR 15.303). Also, cesspools must be upgraded prior to an increase in design flow (e.g., the addition of a bedroom to a home or seats to a restaurant).”

For more information see the Mass Gov Website

We provide cesspool services to customers so that they can ensure that their system continues to operate correctly. Today we have cesspool services scheduled in Bellingham, Blackstone, Franklin, Sharon, Foxboro and Mansfield MA. We do also provide cesspool replacements and have recently done so recently in Rowley and Hanson MA. Septic Installation in Acushnet MA

Septic Preservation Services provide septic system installations for many property owners for a variety of reasons. Today we have a septic installation for a customer in Acushnet who needs a larger septic system because they are putting an addition which includes 2 bedrooms onto their home. Their older home has a septic system that was put in many years ago and was not designed to handle the volume of Wastewater that maybe created with the addition of extra bedrooms. Of course it is not always the case that more bedrooms equates to more people using the system but that is the measure that is used to determine if a septic system should be upgraded or replaced. Your property must have a septic system that is equal to the number of bedrooms that you have to ensure that it can cope with the wastewater that will enter it. All Wastewater is enters your septic system so that does not just include toilets but that also showers, baths, dishwashers and washing machines. Older septic systems are sometimes overwhelmed even when the number of bedrooms has not increased if more than the expected people are living or just visiting the home or larger appliances are bought and used at the same time or repeatedly used on the same day. It is always wise to be aware of the volume of Wastewater that you are introducing to your septic system and if possible take measures such as taking shorter showers or doing your washing over an entire week rather than just on one day. However if you find that you are having septic issues that you can not solve with these solutions we are always happy to make suggestions or discuss a septic upgrade or replacement. We have recently installed new and upgraded septic systems for customers in Lynnfield, Boxford and Middleton MA. If you require a septic system upgrade or a septic installation or if you have any questions about your septic system please do contact our office on 877 378 4279 or visit Septic Preservation Services

Be Aware Of Your Septic System’s Capacity And Get A Septic Pumping When Necessary

Septic Preservation Services has septic pumping scheduled in Barnstable, Eastham, Dennis, Brewster, Orleans and Mashpee MA. It is important to have your septic system pumped every 3-5 years but this can vary dramatically depending on the size of your septic system and the water usage. We have one customer who has a small property on Cape Cod, with a correspondingly small septic system, which gets much heavier usage during the summer, especially when they host large family gatherings. These events puts a huge strain on their septic system. They have found that it is more cost effective to hire portable toilets for their events than to have their septic system pumped much more regularly due to the excessive use it gets periodically and risk failures due to the large increase in usage it gets at these times. If you wish to schedule septic pumping or if you have any questions regarding pump outs or septic systems please do contact our Norton office on 877-378-4279 or visit

Septic Repair Appointments Scheduled Today In Maine

Septic Preservation Services know that although there are many types of septic systems in use today they are all designed for each site and mostly work on the same principles. A conventional septic system consists of a septic tank, a distribution box and a drainfield, all connected by pipes, called conveyance lines. Your home’s wastewater flows into your septic tank where it is held and solids sink to the bottom and lighter scum floats to the top. The solids and scum are decomposed by bacteria and periodically pumped. The treated wastewater or effluent flows through the distribution box into your drainfield or leach field where it then slowly seeps into the subsurface soil where it is further treated and purified (secondary treatment). A properly functioning septic system does not pollute the groundwater. However a failing septic system can have many unpleasant repercussions such as:

  • cause a serious health threat to your family and neighbors,
  • degrade the environment, especially lakes, streams and groundwater,
  • reduce the value of your property,
  • be very expensive to repair,
  • put thousands of water supply users at risk if you live in a public water supply watershed and fail to maintain your system.”

Therefore if you suspect your septic system is not operating correctly or you have concerns about your system do not put off contacting a professional. Today we have septic repair appointments in Kennebunk, Cape Elizabeth, Biddeford, Arundel, Kennebunk Port and Old Orchard Beach ME. You you need to schedule a septic repair or if you have any questions or concerns about your septic system please do contact us on 877-378-4279 or visit Septic Preservation Services

Safety When Operating Equipment For A Septic Installation, Repairs and Other Work Is Our Priority

Septic Preservation Services have the equipment and training to safely carry out all of your septic installation and septic repair requirements no matter what tools are needed for the job. For example we covered covered cut off saw safety and chain saw safety in one of our recent safety meetings. These are two tools that you would not perhaps immediately associate with septic work but we do use them and therefore we take seriously the safety of our technicians and customers when they are being operated. Whether our technicians are out in the field using heavy excavators for the excavation work required for a large septic installation or in the office writing reports or producing septic designs we want our staff and customers to be safe. Today we have a septic installation starting in Sharon and initially our technicians will need to use the chainsaw to clear undergrowth back. Septic Cleaning Will Improve The Efficiency Of Your Septic System And Keep It Running Smoothly

Septic Preservation Services know that when you are thinking about your septic system (if you are ever thinking about your septic system) one word that is unlikely to be the first or even the tenth is ‘clean’. However Septic Preservation Services can provide septic cleaning for your septic system and for a very good reason. If you have a septic system it must be pumped regularly, generally every 2-5 years. There is no getting around it, if a septic system is used it will eventually fill up and must be pumped to work correctly. However when you have your septic system pumped you are not necessarily having it ‘cleaned’ and a thorough septic cleaning can make a big difference to your system. Getting your tanks cleaned on a regular basis will help to improve the efficiency of your septic system and keep it running smoothly. Quick service pumping companies may seem cheaper but will actually cost property owners down the road because they are not cleaning while they pump. Septic Preservation Services takes pride in the work that we do, utilizing specialized miniature equipment to locate specific areas of your system, such as a sewer cam that is used to investigate the inside of your sewer lines, and jetting equipment to clean the pipes within the leach field. Today we have septic cleaning scheduled in Hudson, Stow, Maynard, Acton, Boxborough, Carlisle and Wayland MA. If you would be interested in septic cleaning and septic pumping or if you have any questions about septic systems please do contact our Norton office on 877-378-4279 or visit Septic Preservation Services
