Septic Preservation Services know that in Massachusetts Title 5 is there to protect property owners with septic systems or people who plan to buy a property with a septic system. As stated on the Mas Gov website:
“Failing septic systems and cesspools can contaminate drinking water, shellfish beds, and beaches. Title 5 of the State Environmental Code protects us by requiring inspection of private sewage disposal systems. Local boards of health receive these inspection reports. Most systems will pass inspection. Title 5 requires the replacement or upgrade of systems that fail.
If you own a home with a septic system or cesspool and plan to put it up for sale, add a bedroom, or change its use, you will need to get a system inspection.”

Septic Preservation Services not only does the heavy construction and excavation associated with the installation of septic systems but also provides continued maintenance, repair and inspection of septic systems. Today we have Title 5 septic inspections scheduled in Sturbridge, Brimfield, Brookfield, Ware, Paxton and Spencer MA. As stated on the Mas Gov website:
“The inspection includes determining the location and condition of cesspools, septic tanks and distribution boxes. Often, this will not require extensive excavation.” For more information see https://www.mass.gov/guides/buying-or-selling-property-with-a-septic-system
Therefore as stated it is not often that we are required to excavate to carry out a septic inspection but if, for any reason, that is necessary we do have the equipment, operators and skills to do so without having to wait, and pay for, for an outside contractor. You can also be confident that we will carry out all work to our own high standards because we do all of the work, even in the unlikely event that extensive excavation is required. Septic Preservation Services has been working in the septic industry in this region for over 25 years. During this time we have developed many long lasting relationships with our customers. This may seem surprising for a septic company but we value the loyalty of our customers, many of whom have been working with us for years. These are property owners who are often on a service contact with us or have had a septic installation from us and continue to receive septic system maintenance from us or have bought and sold property on more than one occasion and have chosen to have Septic Preservation Services do their septic inspection. These relationships are especially important for our customers on service contracts because we often carryout services when they are not even home and they trust us to maintain their septic system and locate any potential problems before they result in expensive septic repairs. We visit our customers’ properties on a quarterly, biannual or annual basis depending on the type of system that they have and the usage it gets. For example a family home with teeneagers may need servicing more oten that a holiday home that is only used in the summer. Today we have septic services in Clinton, Berlin, Bolton, Marlborough, Sterling, Hubbardston and Paxton MA. If you require a septic service or have any questions about your septic system please do contact our office on 877-378-4279 or visit www.septicpreservation.com

Septic Preservation Services, in addition to property owners with conventional septic systems also work with many customers who have a cesspool instead. As stated on the Mass Gov website:
“A cesspool is a pit which acts as both a settling chamber for solids and a leaching system for liquids. The use of cesspools may overload the capacity of the soil to remove bacteria, viruses, and phosphorus, and to nitrify ammonia and organic nitrogen compounds. A conventional septic system has a tank where solids can settle and begin to degrade, a distribution box, and a soil absorption system (SAS) that further treats the effluent by removing some of the bacteria, viruses, phosphorus, and nitrogen.”
Although cesspool are now out of date and there are more efficient and environmentally conscious alternatives Massachusetts does not require cesspools to be replaced. They state that:
“Only those cesspools that exhibit signs of hydraulic failure, are located extremely close to private or public water supplies, or otherwise fail to protect or pose a threat to public health, safety or the environment will need to be upgraded (310 CMR 15.303). Also, cesspools must be upgraded prior to an increase in design flow (e.g., the addition of a bedroom to a home or seats to a restaurant).”
We provide cesspool services to customers so that they can ensure that their system continues to operate correctly. Today we have cesspool services scheduled in Bolton, Berlin, Clinton, Sterling, Paxton, Spencer and East Brookfield MA. We do also provide cesspool replacement and have recently done so in Maynard, Dennis and Berkley MA. If you have a cesspool and require services or replacement or if you have any questions please do contact our office on 877-378-4279 or visit https://www.septicpreservation.com
