Leach Field Repair With White Knight System

Septic Preservation Services were contacted by a customer in Acushnet who had noticed sewage smells and damp patches in their backyard so were concerned that they may have a septic problem. Further discussion revealed that they had noticed slow drains and much greener grass in their backyard for a while but had not realized that these are also signs of a septic problem. The reason for their leach field failure is biological clogging. This is the development of a biomat beneath the leachfield that eventually prevents the liquid or effluent from entering the underlying soil. This biomat is a combination of fine organic solids that have been carried out of the septic tank and the remnants of anaerobic bacteria. These bacteria originate in the human intestinal tract and enter the septic system with the waste products. 95% of all leach field failures are biological. We will repair their leach field by installing the White Knight system. The White Knight system creates an aerobic environment within the septic system and provides a large surface area for the growth of a specialized bacterial colony. As the bacteria multiply, they consume the organic material coming into the septic tank. At the same time, a great many of these bacteria are carried into the leach field and begin to consume the organic material that is clogging the soil. As a result, the underlying soil begins to regain its porosity, which in turn allows the effluent to pass through. After installation our client will have to discontinue use of a garbage disposal system, refrain from introducing any harsh chemicals into the septic system, use liquid detergents for washing dishes and clothes, refrain from flushing any and all non-organic products down the drains, refrain from the heavy use of bleach products and refrain from flushing paper towels or wipes down the drains. If they do their their leach field will remain operating correctly. We also have other septic repairs scheduled today in Mattapoisett, New Bedford, Fairhaven and Fall River MA. Increases In Flow Of Septic System Requires A Septic Inspection

Septic Preservation Services have many years experience working with the septic industry in this region and because of this we are contacted to do septic inspections for property owners who are selling their home or business property with a septic system and therefore require an inspection. Today we have inspections scheduled for customers in Fairhaven, Mattapoisett, Marion and New Bedford for property sales. We also have a septic inspection today for a property in Acushnet MA for another reason. As required by Title 5 in Massachusetts:

“Changes of Use and Increases in Flow

These situations require a system inspection only if the modification requires a building permit or occupancy permit. For example:

  • adding a bedroom to a house
  • adding seats to a restaurant
  • changing the type of business operating at a commercial location.

Check with your Building Department or Board of Health to find out if your modification meets these requirements.

Any change in the footprint of a building also requires an inspection to determine the location of the system, to ensure that construction will not be located on top of any system components or on the reserve area. Check with your local Board of Health” – Mass Gov. For more information see https://www.mass.gov/guides/buying-or-selling-property-with-a-septic-system

In this instance our client has added bedrooms to their property and therefore require a septic inspection.

If you need a septic inspection, for any reason, or you are unsure about septic inspections, Title 5 or septic systems please do contact our Norton office where we will be happy to answer any questions you may have or schedule an appointment if necessary on 877-378-4279 or visit https://www.septicpreservation.com

The Health Of Your Septic System Is Improved Through The Addition Of Septic System Bacteria Products

Septic Preservation Services hopes that everyone who took part in the Black Friday sales last week came home with a few bargains and no buyers remorse. Sometimes a ‘bargain’ on the shelf turns out to be a mistake if it is either not as cheap as it originally seemed or not the quality product that it first appeared on closer inspection. This can also be true for septic services and why it is always sensible to research the septic company that you choose to use. Septic Preservation Services has been working in the septic industry for over 25 years in this region and has an excellent reputation for providing quality septic services. We take pride in the work that we do and ensure that all of our technicians are trained with up to date methods and have state of the art equipment. Even with a seemingly simple task as septic pumping it is always a good idea to check the company that you choose to use because keeping your septic system clean and healthy, including its bacteria, is the best way to avoid costly repairs to your septic system, be it a septic tank, cesspool or some other style system.

Septic Preservation Services helps to ensure your system remains as healthy as possible through periodic pumping and system checks. Our professionally trained staff is there to identify potential issues before they become big problems.  To prevent problems, we ensure the solids in your system are cleared out and remain at a level consistent with a healthy system. We also check and clear filters, if one is present, to be sure it doesn’t let any solids into the soil absorption system. The health of the system is also improved through addition of septic system bacteria products to your system by our professional staff. These bacteria help break down the organic solids in your tank which reduces buildup over time, reduces odors and keeps your pipes clean.

Today we are pumping a client’s septic tank in Rochester MA and also adding bacteria products. With proper maintenance these additives can ensure the success and health of your system. Today we also have septic pumping scheduled for customers in Mattapoisett, New Bedford, Fairhaven and Marion MA. If you need to have your septic tank pumped or if you have any questions about septic pumping, septic systems or septic bacteria  please do contact our office on 877-378-4279 or visit www.septicpreservation.com
